Please join me for my monthly MORNING COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR, held the last Thursday of each month from 9:00am-10:00am in the Midway Mall food court.  I will be in the food court Thursday morning for informal discussions, questions, or just to talk.  I encourage any and all residents to join me for a cup of coffee and to discuss whatever is on their mind. Your concerns are my concerns, and this is a great opportunity to make them heard.

Elyria Supports Local Economy with Workhorse Truck Purchase

The City of Elyria has purchased an impressive F-750 Medium Duty truck to assist our Water Distribution Department in the facilitation of keeping the water flowing to our homes and businesses. This truck will continue to help the City do work in-house that would otherwise have to be contracted to outside parties, and it serves as a great source of pride that we were able to support our local economy and purchase such a quality product locally.

The Water Distribution Department, under the leadership of manager Dave Rothgery, works with the Engineering, Utilities, Street and other City departments to maintain the pipes and equipment that delivers water to the entire City of Elyria, including maintenance and testing of all fire hydrants in the City and emergency water-main repairs in the freezing cold of winter.

The entire news release from Ford can be read here.

Time Is Running Out For City of Elyria Fireworks!

We still need your help to make Fireworks a reality in the City of Elyria this year! Our annual program is funded by the kind donations of our residents and businesses and we can't do it without your help.  We have once again been overwhelmed by the generosity of our City, but we have not yet reached our goal.

We have donations coming in daily, but we still need your support to make Fireworks happen in the City of Elyria again this year!  We must make a decision by April 30th and still have a lot of money left to raise!  You can find more info and donate securely online here, or you can complete and return this form before April 30th.

The last few years have been a tremendous success, with one of the best displays in Northwest Ohio, and we're eager to make this year's program even better!  Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your coworkers and your neightbors.  Any donation is needed and appreciated, and we hope to see all over you again this year!

JOIN THE FUN: ELYRIA BICENTENNIAL PLANNING UNDERWAY

Thank you to all of the enthusiastic  Elyrians who are working with the City to help plan for Elyria’s 200th birthday to be celebrated in 2017 with year-long events.  It’s not too late to join in the fun!  Over the past two months over 90 volunteers have stepped forward to serve on eight committees.

Among some of the activities include a host of legacy projects, historical and educational projects, arts and culture projects,  faith-based projects, and many events open to the public.  If you would like to learn more or volunteer, please call the Mayor’s Office at (440) 326-1402.

Be part of rebuilding the Ely Square Fountain, lighting Kerstetter Way and the East Falls, creating an outdoor art gallery and farmer’s market, and making some spectacular events happen.  It’s going to be a year like no other with a grand parade, concerts downtown, fireworks, traveling displays, an Elyria play, and many other events designed to bring out our community history and pride.

Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect with our tentative calendar of events…
