Sanitation Delay - Starting December 25, 2018

Due to observance of several upcoming holidays, most residents will experience a one day delay in garbage and recycling pickup during the weeks of Christmas and New Years.

During the week of Christmas: If your normal pickup day is Monday, there will be NO DELAY.  If you're normal pickup day is Tuesday - Friday, you will experience a ONE DAY DELAY in pickup.

During the week of New Years: If your normal pickup day is Monday, there will be NO DELAY.  If you're normal pickup day is Tuesday - Friday, you will experience a ONE DAY DELAY in pickup.

Join Mayor Brinda and her staff for the final Community Conversation of 2018 at East Park Recreation Center - 1101 Prospect Street, 6:00pm this Thursday, December 13!  Mayor Brinda and her senior staff will be joined by representatives from City departments to give you updates on what is happening in Elyria and answer your questions in an open forum.

Also, remember that if you are looking for a great experience to share with your family this holiday season, Finwood Estate, located at 799 N. Abbe Rd. in Elyria, is home to a tremendous Christmas display, complete with thousands of lights, decorations, trains and more.  The outdoor display will be on until January 2nd, and you can go inside to view the estate or enjoy a cup of cocoa with Santa Claus through December 23rd.

Despite some adverse weather conditions, the 2018 City of Elyria Festival of Lights was another tremendous success!  Complete with an ice carving, caricatures, a petting zoo (with a live reindeer!), Mayor Brinda's Storybook Giveaway, free giftbags to children and camel rides on Court Street!  If you weren't able to attend, you can take part in the fun by watching the video below.  Thank you to everyone who helped me the Festival of Lights a success - a complete list is printed after the video!

Quick Update on Columbia Gas Outage - Dec. 1, 2018

UPDATE: Many of the affected residents have already had their service restored, and more are yet to come today.  We will post another update later today.  The Red Cross is closing the shelter set up at Eastern Heights School, but Columbia Gas remains committed to helping those affected by the outage and will continue to provide temporary housing at the hotels below:
