Elyria Narcotics Unit Arrests 21 in Drug Sting

Per Sergeant James Welsh, Elyria Police Narcotics:

The Elyria Police Narcotics Unit made (21) drugs arrests in eight days beginning August 5th 2015. “Operation Sundown” was initiated in response to the growing number of neighborhood drug complaints and gun violence that have occurred this summer in Elyria.

“Operation Sundown” targeted street level drug dealers that distribute cocaine and heroin to drug addicts throughout the City of Elyria and Lorain County. The majority of the individuals targeted have conducted drug transactions in homes, apartment buildings, city streets, alleys, street corners, parks and parking lots throughout the City of Elyria.

During “Operation Sundown,” the Elyria Police Narcotics Unit seized (3) handguns, a Davis .22 caliber Derringer, Glock 9mm, Desert Eagle 9mm, and military issued body armor. Detectives also seized (60 Grams) Cocaine, (25 Grams) Heroin, (30 Grams) Marijuana, (27 Doses) of Oxycodone, and (49 Doses) of MDMA “Ecstasy.” The combined street value of the drugs seized is approximately $15,335.00. In addition to the guns and drugs, detectives also seized $5,658.76 in US Currency and (5) vehicles.

The Elyria Police Narcotics Unit will continue to target those individuals responsible for the sale and distribution of narcotics in this community in an effort to decrease gun violence and other ancillary crimes that are often associated with illegal use and sale of street drugs.
 

The following suspects were charged during “Operation Sundown.”
 

  1. Mario L. McCray 34, of 2024 Middle Ave. was arrested on 08-05-15 and charged with Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity (2923.23) F-2 and Conspiracy (2923.01) F-5.
  2. Willie L. Leach 33, of 1024 Middle Ave. was also arrested on 08-05-15 and charged with Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity (2923.23) F-2, Conspiracy (2923.01) F-5, Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5, Trafficking Cocaine (Juvenile Specification) (2925.03) F-4, and Possessing Criminal Tools (2923.24) F-5. 
  3. Cherri Eanes 29, of 339 10th St. was also arrested on 08-05-15 and charged with Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity (2923.23) F-2, and Conspiracy (2923.01) F-5. 
  4. Jessica Allgood 29, of 2024 Middle Ave. was also arrested on 08-05-15 and charged with Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity (2923.23) F-2, and Conspiracy (2923.01) F-5.
  5. Jamaal O. Harvey 36, of 345 9th St. was arrested on 08-06-15 at T&A Lounge; 801 Foster Ave. Harvey was charged with Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-4 (Juvenile Specification).
  6. Walter D. Brown 34, of 64 Riverside Dr. was also arrested on 08-06-15 at T&A Lounge and charged with (5 Counts) of Trafficking Cocaine 2925.03 (1) F-3 (Juvenile Specification), (1) F-4 and (3) F-5; Trafficking-Heroin (2925.03) F-4 (Juvenile Specification).
  7. Shaundale M. Brown 27, of 215 Lexington Ave. was also arrested on 08-06-15 and charged with Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5, Possessing Criminal Tools (2923.24) F-5. 
  8. Jermaine Washington 33, of 442 Bell Ave. was arrested on 08-07-15 and charged with Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5.
  9. Jonathon L. Oliver 32, of 118 N. West River Rd. was arrested on 08-10-15 and charged with (2 counts) of Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5.
  10. Andrew L. Owens 32, of 864 Rosewood Dr. J113 was also arrested on 08-10-15 and charged with Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5, Possession of Cocaine (2925.11) F-5, Illegal Conveyance of Drugs (2921.36) F-3, Tampering with Evidence (2921.12) F-3, Failure to Comply w/ Police Officers (2921.331) F-4; cited for DUS (4210.11) M-1, Reckless Operation (4511.20) MM and No Safety Belt (4513.263) MM.
  11. Darrell Grantham Jr. 32, of 810 West Ave. was also arrested on 08-10-15 and charged with (2 counts) Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-5, Possession of Heroin (2925.11) F-4, Drug Paraphernalia (2925.14) M-4, and Possession of Marijuana (2925.11) MM. 
  12. Christopher L. Crook 32, of 421 Foster Ave. was arrested on 08-11-15 and charged with Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-5.
  13. Trynell A. Davis 23, of 818 East Ave. was also arrested on 08-11-15 and charged with (2 counts) Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5, Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-5, Tampering w/ Evidence (2921.12) F-3, Obstructing Official Business (2921.31) F-5, Possessing Criminal Tools (2923.24) F-5, and Resisting Arrest (2921.33) MM.
  14. Calvin L. Williams 32, of 1442 N. West River Rd. Apt. C was also arrested on 08-11-15 and charged with (2 counts) of Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5, Having Weapons under Disability (2923.13) F-3, Improper Handling of a Firearm in a M/V (2923.16) F-4, and Carrying Concealed Weapons (2923.12) F-4.
  15. Octavius T. Smith 37, of 1864 Middle Ave. Apt.  E-5 was arrested on 08-12-15 and charged with Trafficking-Cocaine (2925.03) F-4 (juvenile specification), Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-4 (juvenile spec.), Possession of MDMA/”Ecstasy” (2925.11) F-3, Possession of Heroin (2925.11) F-4, Possession of Oxycodone (2925.11) F-3, Trafficking MDMA (2925.03) F-2 (Juvenile Specification) Trafficking-Heroin (2925.03) F-3 (Juvenile Spec,), Trafficking Oxycodone (2925.03) F-2 (Juvenile Spec.), Having Weapons under Disability (2923.13) F-3, and CCW (2923.12) F-4.
  16. Darell L. Smallwood 29, currently incarcerated at Belmont Correctional Institution was also indicted on 08-12-15 on a charge of Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03) F-5.   
  17. Pierre C. Alston 35, of 344 13th St. was arrested on 08-13-15 and charged with Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03A2) F-1 (School Specification), Possession Cocaine (2925.11) F-2, Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-4 (Juvenile Spec.) Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-5, Possessing Criminal Tools (2923.24) F-5 and Drug Paraphernalia (2925.14) M-4
  18. David A. Hollis Jr. 26, also of 344 13th St. was arrested on 08-13-2015 and charged with Trafficking Cocaine (2925.03A2) F-1 (School Specification) Possession of Cocaine (2925.11) F-2, and Drug Paraphernalia (2925.14) M-4.  Hollis was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for Domestic Violence issued by the Elyria Police Department.
  19. Colin Mosley 24, of 2027 Crehore St. of Lorain was also arrested on 08-13-15 and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (2925.11) F-5 and Possession of Marijuana (2925.11) MM.  Mosley was arrested at 344 13th St. with David Hollis.
  20. Ernest D. Beckett Jr. 30, of 408 Bell Ave. was also arrested on 08-13-2015 and charged with Possession of Marijuana (513.03) MM and Driving Under Suspension (4511.16A) M-1.  Beckett was charged as a result of a traffic stop in the area of Adams St. and Morgan Ave. in Elyria.
  21. Brian A. Ortiz 21, of 421 Foster Ave. A201 was also arrested on 08-13-2015 and charged with Trafficking Heroin (2925.03) F-5.
