Martin Luther King, Jr. Civil Rights Heritage Tour

The City of Elyria Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission is organizing an historic tour to visit many sites integral to the history of our country and specific to the Civil Rights movement. In our current day, it is more important than ever to remember our history, and there is no better way to teach our future leaders than to show them in person the places of our struggles, our victories, and how far we have come as a country and as a people. For most people this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the sites we usually only read about.

The tour will run through March 23-28, 2015 and will visit Atlanta, Tuskegee, Selma, Montgomery, Birmingham and Memphis. Specific points of interest will include: National Underground Railroad Museum♦Martin Luther King Jr. Birth Home Museum ♦Martin Luther King Center ♦ Tuskegee Airfield & National Museum ♦ Historic Tuskegee Institute ♦ Booker T. Washington Museum ♦ The Renowned National Voting Rights Museum ♦ Historic Edmund Pettus Bridge ♦ The Rosa Parks Museum♦ Southern Poverty Law Center Civil Rights Memorial ♦ Dexter Avenue Baptist Church ♦ Brown Chapel AME Church ♦ The Famed Sixteenth Street Baptist Church ♦ The Birmingham Civil Rights Museum ♦ Kelly Ingram Memorial Park ♦ Lorraine Hotel National Civil Rights Museum
