PRESS RELEASE
On 02/25/16 at approx. 0345 hrs, Officers were detailed to 606 Furnace St. in reference to an attempted abduction of a 10 year old female.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim’s father was awoken by his 10 year old daughter running into his bedroom screaming. The victim advised her father that she was awakened by someone grabbing her legs and trying to pull her out of her bedroom window. The victim described this subject as a W/M in his thirties with brown eyes, who was wearing a blk hoody, with the hoody tied tightly around his face. The subject told the victim to cooperate and neither she nor her family would get hurt. The victim was able to break free and run into her father’s room for help.

The victim’s father went outside and noticed that someone had removed a step ladder from his work vehicle and placed the ladder against the house and underneath his daughter’s window. A search for the subject by responding officers was unsuccessful.

Detectives from the Elyria Police Department and agents from FBI are currently investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Elyria Police Department at 440-323-3302, or Cleveland FBI Office at 216-522-1400.
