Elyria Art Works Working to Support Our Troops

The Elyria Art Works Community Art Center and Gallery, located at 336 Broad Street, is sponsoring a community art project called “Cards for the Troops” to support our brave armed forces.   Our deployed service personnel have limited communication pathways available to them when overseas and often rely on the tested and true methods of the postal service to stay in touch with their loved ones.  Finding a source for greeting cards to send to their families can be difficult, so the Elyria Art Works is inviting any community members of any age to stop in during open gallery hours and make a card (or several cards) for use by our deployed soldiers. This project was started with our After School Drop-In kids and their parents, and will remain ongoing for the foreseeable future.  Thanks to the generosity of  Z Graphics by Jan, all necessary materials have already been donated and are on site and ready for use at no cost (donations for postage to mail bundles of finished cards are still greatly appreciated but not necessary).  It’s a great opportunity to get in touch with your inner artist while allowing the men and women of our military stay in touch with their families.

Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays from 11:00am-4:30pm.   Call 440-328-3025 with any questions.
