WATER CONSERVATION ALERT!

The City of Elyria Water Pumping plant is experiencing some water intake issues. Because of frazil ice blocking the water intake values of the plant, the City of Elyria is issuing a water conservation alert for residents and businesses in the following communities:

  • Elyria
  • North Ridgeville
  • Amherst
  • Sheffield Township
  • Elyria Township
  • Carlisle Township

Conservation efforts are requested through midnight Monday,March 17, 2014.

Immediate steps are being taken to remedy the situation. Until full water intake is returned, residents and businesses are asked to conserve water usages to minimum or limited levels. Low water pressure may be experienced during this time. NO boiling is necessary but the water may be cloudy due to sediment. Residents and businesses are asked to run the water until clear. Updates will be available via the City’s website at cityofelyria.org, cable channel 12 and the local media.
