ELYRIA’S SUMMERTIME IN THE CITY: GARDEN PARTY, FREE BACKPACKS, NATURE TOUR, CLASSIC CAR SHOW, LAFLAVOUR CONCERT


Dear Friends,

Summer is in full swing in Elyria, Ohio and there is no shortage of fun activities this weekend for the whole family.  This Saturday, July 26 there will be a FREE Backpack Giveaway and Garden Party at the City of Elyria Second Street Community Garden (street address 518) sponsored by Grace Community Church.  And if you are a nature lover, meet at the Nature Center at 2:00pm in Cascade Park and enjoy a guided tour of Elyria’s majestic jewel with Friends of Cascade Park.  Wear your walking shoes and tour trails, caves, a variety of Ohio woodland creatures and habitation and of course -  our spectacular waterfalls!       
On Sunday, July 27 our beautiful, historic downtown Elyria will be humming with a Classic Car Show from Noon to 3:00pm and a concert by LaFlavour from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Sponsored by Donna’s Diner, Main Street Elyria and the City of Elyria Parks and Recreation Department, the Classic Car Show will feature great cars, great food and great music.  Cars begin assembling at 8:30am for judging and the show opens for public viewing from Noon to 3:00pm.  Tap your toes to the band Big Agnes, delight your palette with faire from Donna’s Diner and Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery, and take in over 100 classic cars representing every era.  Sincere thanks are extended to donors Dove Manufacturing and Life Care Ambulance.  Classic car participants can register in advance at Donna’s Diner for $8.00 or the day of the show for $10.00.    For more information call Donna’s Diner at 322-3221. 

And bring your chair or blanket and dancing shoes and join us for the LaFlavour concert beginning at 6:00pm.  This popular Massillon-based band performs tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, Disco era and more.  For more information about the LaFlavour concert call the Elyria Parks and Recreation Department at (440) 326-1500.
